Elise is a painter and illustrator based in Grand Rapids, MI. She creates alluring paintings and endearing illustrations for a range of clients, all with a playful and cozy aesthetic.
Elise KiSu is how I sign my art because KiSu is my middle name! Named after my Korean grandma, I am so proud to carry on her name.
Fun fact- when I studied abroad in Tanzania, I learned that Kisu means Knife in Swahili… they called me “knife” from then on.
My favorite things to paint are plants and animals! Many of those that appear in my paintings and illustrations are inspired by the plants and animals I have at home!
I brought this cactus home from the deserts of New Mexico and to my surprise it grew the cutest little arm!
